As part of Reconciliation Week, the Morning Star children started each morning weaving nature hangings by the fire and talking about the gifts that Mother Earth gives us to make our hand crafts. We used she-oak blossoms, and gumnuts as the local Taungurung people did when making necklaces to give as gifts when visiting other camps. Acknowledgment of Country is always woven into our morning circles, ours was written with last year’s group of children and continues to be said every day in Morning Star. The story told was Tiddalick, a Dreamtime story that seemed very relevant for our season just now with the rains falling and filling the waterways. We finished our week with a walk in the big school, visiting Karen in the kitchen, and enjoying Johnny Cakes for afternoon tea.
As King Winter is now in the land we will begin preparation for our Winter festival in the coming weeks.
