CURATORIAL STATEMENT

The natural beauty within our world is frequently taken for granted as people are caught up in the businesses of their everyday lives. We continuously find ourselves focusing on the negative aspects in life and letting positives fly by in a blur of muted colours. During a cultural exchange to the small European country of Slovenia, I was able to develop an entirely new perspective of the world around me; the world I had been taking for granted. However, whilst I was in awe, admiring the snow-capped mountains and lush green trees that were scattered throughout villages, my host sister was more focused on the restaurants we visited. As society, we get increasingly bored of the landscapes we see every day and often overlook their beauty. I wanted my exhibition to remind viewers of the natural beauty in the world and allow themselves to get lost in scapes my artworks depict.
