The Spring Fair and Open Day have held pride of place on the Mansfield Steiner School’s annual calendar for over 30 years.
Located in the foothills of the Victorian High Country
Founded in 1986, the school offers an enlivened form of education, its rich aesthetic curriculum, fosters a love of learning and produces strong, articulate and empathetic individuals who are capable of making the world a better place.
On Saturday, 26 October Mansfield Steiner School will host one of it’s biggest celebrations yet, with the 2019 Spring Fair and Open Day marking the school’s official celebration of 100-years of Waldorf (Steiner) education.
Mansfield Steiner School is inviting the whole community to join in a day of celebration, beginning with their Welcome to Spring Fair Maypole Ceremony at 10am sharp.
The beautiful grounds will be transformed into a vibrant marketplace of food, craft and entertainment with activities for all ages.
An extraordinarily magical atmosphere is created in the Morning Star and Rosa Mundi gardens. Young children will delight in the wonders of the Rainbow Tent, The Grotto, The Gumboot Café, gem fossicking, the fishing game and face painting; a myriad of little treasures and activities set to capture the imaginations of little people.
While the older children enjoy candle dipping, boat, sword and shield making, a book stall and garland and wand making. Games are held on the oval for all ages and interests.
For adults there will be demonstrations of hand crafts, Cow Lotto, a succulent and plant stall, fresh produce stall and a clothing and footwear stall– with an emphasis on vintage goods. Nutritious, organic, wholesome food is always an outstanding feature of the Fair.
This year’s Open Day will see the return of the annual Song Writing Competition. Mansfield Steiner encourages all promising young musicians from near and far, to create and perform their very own compositions. Entries are via the school’s website. The finalists will be invited to perform on centre stage in the afternoon, and their efforts will be judged by music industry specialists. Prizes include a recording package at Summit View Sound studio and a mentorship session to help further your music career aspirations.
Mansfield Steiner School offers Playgroup to Year 11 and 12 with the addition of the International Baccalaureate Diploma in 2020 (pending registration). Class teachers will be available at Open Day to answer questions and to share their passion for teaching and learning. Tour through the classrooms to explore the depth and beauty of the student’s work, as it develops through the years.
