Class Two have been on a sea adventure this Main Lesson.

Students have heard the Kamidjeri people’s Dreamtime story of Kondili, the keeper of the flame who became a whale and also explored the ‘warm, dark, inside cupboards’ of the whale in Rudyard Kipling’s wonderful Just So Story. They created an acrostic poem for the Australian Fur Seal;

Frolicking

Under the sea,

Rolling,

Sliding,

Eyes big watching,

Australian,

Loves surfing and

Swimming.

We discovered the rules of each other’s houses as we talked about the Dharawal Dreamtime story of the shark and eel from south of Sydney. Now, we are in the distant sub-tropics swimming with the dolphins and the turtles, or so it seems as we dive into our swimming lessons, on Fridays down at the pool.
