Year 8 Money and Society Main Lesson studies the key characteristics of cooperative behaviours in human societies from their earliest beginnings through to the modern day. Taking a particular focus on the aspect of ‘money’ in human culture, this unit investigates financial systems as a force that have shaped trade and cultural interactions around the world, as well as practical mathematical skills that supports students as they navigate their own financial decisions. Particular concepts from cooperative behaviours and the roots of modern society in Mesopotamia to percentage change, pay rates and simple and compound interest loans.
