The Reader Renewal Project is enhancing the literacy development of our students in early primary years at Mansfield Rudolf Steiner School and Kindergarten by refreshing and increasing our decodable and phonics-based readers and young reader books with current themes including diversity, multiculturalism and indigenous perspectives.
Our selection of books is based on current research around the Structured Literacy Model of teaching that supports phonological decoding skills. These books complement the knowledge-rich Australian Steiner Curriculum, by increasing success in literacy and fostering a love of reading in our students.
Current students in Year 1 – 4 will benefit from the Reader Renewal Project, as will the many future students that will continue to use these readers in years to come.
