Understanding the IB, IA’s, Chemistry and ART

Discovering Cyanotype Photography in Year 12 (IB) Art Class, lead to a desire to understand and optimise

Discovering Cyanotype Photography in Year 12 (IB) Art Class, lead to a desire to understand and optimise the steps of the process at an atomic level. This became her focus in her Chemistry Internal Assessment (IA).

The IA requires ten hours of research in the lab, guided by the students own interests and uses methods learnt throughout the chemistry course.

Designing her own experiment, she investigated the effect of changing the pH of the Cyanotype solution on mass of blue dye pigment (Prussian Blue) created.

Following her successful experiment, and 3000 word writeup, she has now taken this brilliant colour and created several of her final folio art pieces.
