Secondary Art Teacher (Including IBDP Visual Art)

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and inspiring art lessons for secondary students, integrating Steiner education principles into the curriculum. 
  • Teach IBDP Visual Art to senior students, providing guidance and support throughout the course. 
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity, self-expression, and artistic exploration. 
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their growth and development as artists. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and initiatives that enrich the educational experience of students. 
  • Actively participate in the school community, including attending staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events. 
  • Maintain open communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, concerns, and achievements. 
  • Commitment to Child Safety and the ability to work with the Victorian Child Safety Standards. 

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field. 
  2. Teaching qualification and registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT), or eligibility for registration. 
  3. Experience teaching art at the secondary level, preferably with senior students. 
  4. Familiarity with the IBDP Visual Art curriculum and willingness to undergo training if not already certified. 
  5. Understanding of and commitment to Steiner education principles, with a willingness to explore and apply them in the classroom. 
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents/guardians. 
  7. Creative and innovative approach to teaching, with a passion for inspiring students to develop their artistic talents and abilities.

Violin Teacher 0.6 

Mansfield Steiner School is seeking to appoint a dynamic, suitably qualified musician to the position of violin teacher. This is a 0.6 FTE fixed-term position, beginning in Term 2, for the rest of the 2024 school year. There is a strong possibility of extension and/or ongoing employment for a suitable applicant.

The successful applicant will:

  • have the ability to teach violin to a high level.
  • ability to teach other instruments (cello & viola) is an advantage.
  • have a strong working knowledge of classical violin repertoire as well as a variety of other styles including folk and improvisation.
  • be comfortable teaching Class 3 to Class 12 students.
  • have the ability to facilitate and direct string ensembles if required.
  • participate in school music events as required from time to time.
  • have a demonstrated commitment to Steiner education or a willingness to learn.
  • have excellent communication skills.
  • have the ability to work successfully within a team.
  • have a current WWCC and Police Check (VIT Registration an advantage)
 

General duties & requirements:

  1. Be at school for the committed hours of employment and be punctual for lessons duties and meetings.
  2. Attend Staff and faculty meetings, as well as other relevant meetings as determined by the School Leadership Team.
  3. Be rostered on for yard duty, supervising children before, during and after school as required.
  4. Actively work as part of a team, both with Faculty and the School as a whole.
  5. Attend and participate in whole school festivals, open days and fairs.
  6. Attend and participate in curriculum/staff development days and in-service or training courses.
  7. Be available to attend relevant meetings, workshops and conferences outside school hours.
  8. Follow up and be familiar with all school policies.
  9. Maintain professional standards at all times, particularly with regard to communication, confidentiality, collegiality and the School Ethos.
  10. Commitment to work within Victorian Child Safe Standards.
  11. Have appropriate qualifications.

Mansfield Steiner School is seeking an experienced Language Teacher – French, Spanish, or Italian. Our preference is for a French Language specialist to support our current IB French Program, however, we are willing to consider applications from passionate teachers of Spanish and/or Italian.

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Appropriate teaching qualifications and registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
  • Recent experience teaching French, Spanish, or Italian.
  • Be able to bring creativity and practical activities to lessons.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • An ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team.
  • Understanding and/or openness to learning more about Steiner Education pedagogy.
  • Commitment to be fully involved in all school activities
