Cello Teacher Position 0.4 – Beginning Term 1, 2025 

Mansfield Steiner School is seeking to appoint a dynamic, suitably qualified musician to the position of cello teacher. This is a 0.4 FTE fixed-term position, beginning in Term 1, for the 2025 school year. There is a possibility of extension and/or ongoing employment for a suitable applicant. 

The successful applicant will: 

  • have the ability to teach cello to a high level.  
  • ability to teach other instruments (violin & viola) is an advantage. 
  • have a strong working knowledge of classical cello repertoire as well as a variety of other styles including folk and improvisation. 
  • be comfortable teaching Class 3 to Class 12 students. 
  • have the ability to facilitate and direct string ensembles if required. 
  • participate in school music events as required from time to time. 
  • have a demonstrated commitment to Steiner education or a willingness to learn. 
  • have excellent communication skills. 
  • have the ability to work successfully within a team. 
  • have a current WWCC and Police Check (VIT Registration an advantage) 

General duties & requirements: 

  1. Be at school for the committed hours of employment and be punctual for lessons duties and meetings. 
  1. Attend Staff and faculty meetings, as well as other relevant meetings as determined by the School Leadership Team. 
  1. Be rostered on for yard duty, supervising children before, during and after school as required. 
  1. Actively work as part of a team, both with Faculty and the School as a whole. 
  1. Attend and participate in whole school festivals, open days and fairs. 
  1. Attend and participate in curriculum/staff development days and in-service or training courses. 
  1. Be available to attend relevant meetings, workshops and conferences outside school hours. 
  1. Follow up and be familiar with all school policies. 
  1. Maintain professional standards at all times, particularly with regard to communication, confidentiality, collegiality and the School Ethos. 
  1. Commitment to work within Victorian Child Safe Standards. 
  1. Have appropriate qualifications.

Class 4 Teacher  2025

Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Development: Develop and deliver a comprehensive and engaging curriculum for Class 4 students according to the Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework, taking into consideration the Steiner philosophy and pedagogy. Design lesson plans that cater to individual learning styles and encourage critical thinking, artistic expression, and practical skills development.
  2. Classroom Management: Create a harmonious and inclusive classroom environment that promotes mutual respect, cooperation, and a love for learning. Establish clear guidelines and expectations for behaviour, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
  3. Student Assessment and Progress Tracking: Monitor and assess students’ academic progress, social development, and personal growth. Provide regular feedback to students and their parents or guardians, offering support and guidance for their continued success.
  4. Steiner Education Training: Possess a Steiner education training certificate or demonstrate a strong willingness to complete Steiner education training. Familiarity with Steiner’s educational principles, such as age-appropriate learning, and the integration of arts, nature, and practical activities into the curriculum, is highly valued.
  5. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with fellow teachers, support staff, and the wider school community to promote a cohesive and holistic educational experience for students. Communicate openly and respectfully with parents or guardians, fostering strong partnerships to support the child’s learning journey.
  6. Child Safety Standards: Adhere to Mansfield Steiner School’s commitment to child safety standards and implement policies and procedures to ensure the physical, and emotional safety of students including following appropriate protocols for reporting and responding to concerns or incidents.

Requirements:

  1. Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in education and VIT registration. Previous Steiner education training is an advantage but a willingness to learn is essential.
  2. Experience:  Teaching experience, preferably in a primary school setting is an advantage. Experience in a Steiner school or familiarity with Steiner education principles is highly desirable.
  3. Passion for Education: Demonstrated passion for education and a deep understanding of child development. A commitment to the principles of Steiner education and the ability to integrate them into daily teaching practices.
  4. Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents or guardians, colleagues, and the wider school community.
  5. Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual students and respond to changing educational requirements. Openness to collaborative decision-making and ongoing professional development.
  6. Child Safety Compliance: Commitment to promoting and maintaining a safe environment for children, including compliance with child safety policies, procedures, and regulations.

Mansfield Steiner School is seeking a qualified and experienced IBDP Diploma Program and Secondary Literacy Support Teacher with a strong understanding and ability to integrate both the International Baccalaureate (IBDP) and Steiner education pedagogies. This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the academic and holistic development of our students by delivering high-quality English instruction and literacy support in alignment with the principles of both educational frameworks.

Responsibilities

  1. Teach IBDP English and Provide Secondary Literacy Support

  6. Parent and Community Engagement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification or qualification in English education.
  • Experience teaching English at IBDP/VCE and secondary school levels, with an understanding of Steiner or Waldorf educational approaches preferred.
  • Proficiency in supporting literacy development across diverse student groups.
  • Strong knowledge of IBDP curriculum and Steiner education principles, or a willingness to train in both.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Passion for fostering holistic development and academic excellence in students.
